Unrealistic my ass....

So I checked out this flick a couple of days ago and I have to say, it was pretty good. I mean, some of the dialogue was very matrix-esque, but it was the issues that the movie dealt with that really sparked my attention. You could almost call it a liberal (depending on who's side you're on... not that I'm picking sides or anything but... I'm gonna stop talking now) view/critique of how the Bush administration is conducting itself. These are not my words specifically, but those of some of friends. In any case, I saw this documentary afterwards that got me thinking about the movie again. I think it's called Loose Change. Don't quote me on that though. I'm rambling again. It's about an hour and a half. Definitely worth a look though.

The quest...

As of Saturday, I was hatless. It is not a situation I recommend. One step closer to utter kaos if you ask me. And by kaos I mean being forced to at least comb your hair when leaving the house. It was not something I wanted to get used to. So my quest lay before me. Find a hat. But not just any hat. I needed a hat that summed up all that is "SHAWN VARGHESE". A daunting task, indeed. Nah, not a task....... a quest. So I bravely headed out yesterday, with one singular goal. Find me a hat......(for less than $20).

At first I went against the norm (cause Shawn doesn't conform to the man... except when it's convenient). I would've totally bought this hat, really I would, but the gold was a little distracting. Yeah, the gold.

I think my next choice shows off my playful side. I can be playful. Seriously, I can. But I'm hear in Vancity as a professional, so I had to pass on Scooby. Sorry, Justin.

Ahhh, eureka! If a hat could could tell the story of Shawn Varghese, this would be it. Pure genious. Plus the store clerk told me it suited me. Damn you pretty vancity girls. I had a plan, but you had to go on a mess things up. Thank-you.

Tribute to Ryan Pitts

Yeah, so there's this guy Ryan Pitts (not sure about the spelling of the last name). He has big eye brows. This party was a tribute to him. He brought lots of beef jerky. I love beef jerky. Ryan Pitts is my new hero. (Note: Ryan Pitts may or may not remember who I am.)

St. Patty's Day: Different locale. Same outcome.

Here you can see the (all too familiar) transition I go through when I hit the booze too hard. It should be noted that none of these people know me. How did I end up here you ask? My sneakiness has no boundaries... and I paid them $5 each to keep me comapany. Vancouver can be a pretty expensive city...

Yet another pic of sunny vancity...

Hey Hey... wanted to give you guys a feeling of how much construction is on the go here. 15 years ago, those buildings weren't there. And most of the towers you see are condos. It's crazy how much money is floating around here. Funny thing is, it's not Canadians who have it. I guess everyone is familiar how Hong Kong was given back to China. Well, before the official date came, there was a rush of Asians to this country (Canada was easier to get into than the States). And the conversion factor of the Yen (or whatever their currency was) to Canadian Dollars is sick. Hence you see a lot of Asian kids (and I mean kids) driving around in Beemers, Benz, Porsches... the list goes on. So that's why the property market exploded. You can't really expand out of Vancouver because it's already bordered by a number of communities, so the only option is to buy whats around you... at inflated prices. Everyone is talking about the bubble bursting, but I can't see it happening anytime soon. There's just too much money here now, and not enough property. Towers are going up at an alarming rate. That's where my company, MH, comes in. We make sure the contractor builds it to code and doesn't cut any corners. And we make a lot of money doing it. To put it in perspective, I've seen window test in NL go around $200. That's cause it's mostly residential home owners. Our company charges more than 10 times that amount - per window. Anyway, I'm starting to ramble. Check you on the flip side.

You can eat all the crackers you want....

Not to be out done by iamsteve.net, I decided to try Oscar.com to see my Oscar date. I am pleased. This is where I'd insert obvious light saber or "force" jokes. But we all know I've got too much class to do something like that. And if you're out there Ms. Portman, I'd like you do know I'm pretty good with a notebook... as well as my light saber... *wink wink*... and there goes what was left of my dignity....

February Comparison

So people back home are sending me lots of pics of all the snow that was dumped on St. John's in the past couple of weeks. I thought maybe you'd like to see how hard we have it here in Vancouver. I really don't know how I get up in the morning....

vancity

Ok, this is my first post from Vancouver... it's crazy that I haven't done this earlier but I thought I'd wait till I got a camera. But since I only see this happening in a few weeks I thought I'd post a quick one telling all you lovely people how I'm doing. I'm doing fine. Yeah, that about sums it up. haha. It's not snowing, that's for sure. I saw the pics on Steve's site and they look mental. Glad I'm here and not there. I'm thinking about staying up here for the summer. I think I might have to find a new apartment though. Maybe something closer to the beach. I have my reasons for this choice. They are obvious. That is all I will say. Anyway, I'll cut it short for now. Hopefully I have some pics to post here later. Peace.
